Abstract

This study examined the effect of financial inclusion on youth empowerment in Katsina State
Nigeria through the role of agency Banking. The study adopts a quantitative research design,
and the sample consists of 447 Agency Banking enterprises in Katsina State. Leveraging
Partial Least Squares (PLS) and Structural Equation Modeling techniques, we rigorously
examined our hypotheses. The findings substantiated the envisaged direct correlations
between geographical coverage, initiation of new bank accounts, customer transactions, and
the efficacy of Agency Banking. Furthermore, the results affirmed the anticipated direct
impact of agency banking on youth empowerment. Significantly, Agency Banking emerged as
a crucial mediator in the nexus between financial inclusion and youth empowerment. To
effectively realize the objective of empowering youth within these enterprises, the study
concludes and recommend that both governmental bodies and financial institutions to accord
precedence to financial inclusion initiatives through the avenue of agency banking.
