Abstract

The study examined the role of entrepreneurial intention among NYSC graduates in Offa
Local Government Area of Kwara State using a qualitative approach. Data were gathered
through in-depth interviews with twenty (20) respondents aged twenty (20) to thirty (30)
years. The results revealed three (3) main themes: Indicators of creativity and
innovativeness, Self-Efficacy, and Skill Acquisition. The study used NVivo software to analyse
the themes. The study revealed that self-efficacy plays an important role in shaping the intent
to become an entrepreneur, encompassing confidence, resilience, problem-solving skills, and
the likelihood of pursuing entrepreneurship as a career path. It was recommended that skills
acquisition programmes should be encouraged to improve competence and enhance
readiness for entrepreneurship. The study concluded that graduates' intention to engage in
entrepreneurship is influenced by personal decision-making.
