Abstract

The aim of this paper is to unveil the need for theassessment of aerobic dance on
the anthropometric indices of overweight and obese women. On the basis of
analyzed papers published betweenthe early2000- 2018. The literature search
was limited to Google Scholar and Google Search engines using overweight,
obesity and anthropometric parameters as search terms. The review included 4
empirical studies between 2013 - 2018 which met all the criteria for this topic
and the results all shows that aerobic dance actually have positive effect on body
anthropometric indices of women. The body anthropometrics of women could be
influenced by genetic potential, eating behaviour, sedentary lifestyle, health
status, as well as geographic region and ethnic group affiliation. Aging is
associated with a higher percentage of body fat and body fat redistribution.
Based on the literature, it was concluded that; aerobic dance programme is a
popular mode of exercise especially among women due to its fun nature with a
motivating music background, joyful dance steps and have a positive effect on
anthropometrics indices of overweight and obese individuals. Therefore, aerobic
dance may be used as an alternative for people who want to prevent or combat
overweight and obesity and its health complications. It is therefore
recommended that individuals, exercise physiologist and general healthcare
providers, should apply aerobic dance programmefor the management of excess
anthropometric values and its health complications on patients.
