Abstract

This paper discusses the metamorphosis of the migrant method to participatory
migrant method in Samaru project. The paper argues that, over the years, there
have been a norm for Samaru Theatre field project, that centers on the students,
taking the theatre solely to the people. The paper notes that in recent times, there
is a slight change in the normal that has made the theatre to be by the people, with
the people and for the people. The participatory tools that were deployed are,
community town hall meetings, interviews, songs among others. The paper
concludes that result of the Samaru project brings development and unity between
the community and the Department of Theatre and Performing Arts of the
University.
