Abstract

The article is study of the art of elegy, which includes the environment in which the poet lives, a historical overview of the poet, and a theoretical study of elegy, Elegy is a type of literature in which the poet expresses sorrow and grief over the death of a loved one or an unfortunate event, It includes a description of deceased, highlighting their good qualities and some details about their life. It praises and recalls their virtues and good deeds, enumerates their merits and accomplishments, expresses the grief and pain felt by the mourner, and offers emotional support to bereaved person. Lamentation is considered an important part of Arabic and other word literature. He works to immortalize the memory of the dead through expressive and moving words. Studying the art of elegy in Arabic poetry has led to several important findings, most notably that elegy is not merely weeping for the dead, but rather a profound literary art that reflects the social and cultural values and philosophical perceptions of Arab society throughout the ages. The stdy also revealed its artistic and thematic characteristics, as well as its role in preserving history and documenting events. The researcher adopts a descriptive approach to highlight the effective contributions of the poet Naseer in the literary field in general and in the art of elegy in particular. The approach also includes presentation the selected poem, outlining its ideas, and drawing conclusions.
