Abstract

Deixis is considered as one of the topics of pragmatics, it deals with pronouns, times, places, and
special usage of words in a given environmental settings and shows the relationship between the
addresser and addressees and the context of the communication. This paper is trying to elaborate
the types of Deixis in the poem of Solihu Alagolo with the aim of giving deep meaning of these
deixis in relation to the their context. One of the importance of this research paper is that it will
lay the hands of the researchers on how the deixis should be analyzed in the text, conversation and
poem. One of the objectives of this research paper is to know the impact of Deixis in
understanding inner meanings of the text where they it is used. In order to achieve the objectives
of this research work, the researcher adopts inductive and analytical approach. One of the
findings of this research work is that the Deixis has great impact in expressing deep meanings in
the poem of Salihu Alagolo.
