Abstract

In this study, two geostatistical techniques (Getis-Ord Gi* and Kernel Density) were used to determine the
spatial distribution and pattern of crime hotspots in Kaduna South Local Government Area in northwestern
Nigeria. In addition, the two geostatistical techniques were compared and used to analyze the spatial pattern of
crime in the area. The advantages and disadvantages of the two techniques were highlighted; and appropriate
locations for siting new police stations in the area were recommended.
